Shamir-oscopes: June 2017

Talkhouse's brand-new astrologer breaks down your sign's theme song, mantra, and fortune for the month.

Courageous Capricorn

June theme song: “Stay Together,” Noah Cyrus

June mantra: “I’ll explore…”

You know how to take practical action when it is needed, Courageous Capricorn. The other earth signs can be modest about their deeds, but Courageous Capricorns will demand a show for what they have done. Bring on the airplanes in the sky with smoke designs and a mega phone to announce it to the public, etc. Courageous Capricorn want some stage showing status and real recognition. A Casual Capricorn will give when they want to and on their own terms, so if you come to them begging for something, they’ll come across as stingy. This month, try not to be stingy to yourself when you’re presented with real opportunities for attaining your goals!

The month of June is the best month of 2017 to begin new plans (with the exception of October, a harvest month when you reap the remaining of your summer seeds). Like the mountain goat who represents Casual Capricorn’s sign, slow and steady movement on their paths is how they find their calling in this beautiful thing we call life. You can go through different career phases until you find the perfect one in your late 30s to 40s.

The beginning of the month is rich for new ideas that you want to grow and manifest, and the evidence will show upon the arrival of the full moon. Venus in Aries is making a helpful trine over to Saturn in Sagittarius to rev spiritual energies up, so you can start to study astrology, tarot, or religion—and possibly even make it a career, thanks to the energies of the tenth house energies. Fabricated fear may try to find ways to sway you from your plans, but just check him at the doorway and tell him that he’s not invited in. Chase whatever it is you desire, Courageous Capricorn. The possibilities are endless, and you have to really know that.

The sun in Gemini will help you out with any hesitation, too, especially if it’s associated with relationships of any kind. You can do or say what you have to say to express yourself to the highest way possible. June 9 will be a party: Emotionally, you’ll feel renewed, and the full moon will help your new seeds to take flight and outwardly involve them in the world. If you have been thinking about learning something new or orally laying out a fresh idea, do it with Mercury’s help around June 13. Shed your clothes to a minimum on the 21st to properly ring in the solstice!

Use all of June well, Courageous Capricorn. I send you all universal blessings.

Abstract Aquarius

June theme song: “(I Want to Live on an) Abstract Plain,” Frank Black

June mantra: “I know…”

Aquarius are futuristic beings who express eclectic electricity. To the mundane, they seem to be very abstract, but I can dig it! You are ruled by Uranus, the planet of sudden changes, quirkiness, and flashes of inspiration. We are in the Age of Aquarius now, so your uniqueness will gain even more momentum. The smartest people I know are Abstract Aquarius—it is a part of your makeup to automatically know things, so your mantra is “I know…” Abstract Aquarius do really know without boasting or flaunting it, because they don’t have time to convince nonbelievers—they just know. Either you believe them, or get out of their face.

Early June is the prime time to launch your new plans and ideas about captivating changes in your life. Focus on any types of loans you may want—you may receive an unexpected inheritance or a big money client thanks to the eighth house, which covers other people’s money. Some of you Abstract Aquarius should follow through with higher studies of alternate subjects, as determined by the ninth house.

The Abstract Aquarian’s extreme clothing may seem far-out in this dimension, but in their dimension, it’s groovy, dude. I can’t wait to see what new summer fashions my Abstract Aquarians will debut this month! Dress up on June 9, which will be a carnival: Magnificent Momma Moon will be full, and Jupiter will go direct. Both energies will also help you to see that the beginning of the month plans are tangible. The remaining of the month is meant for following up on what has already been started—the end of the month’s energies are way too wishy-washy to keep creating new things, so double down on what you’ve already launched.

Abstract Aquarians place variety into the world, which makes it a more interesting place. The month of June will be no exception to that rule, so shine up June with your colorful aura of pure love!

Passionate Pisces

June theme song: “Emotional Rollercoaster,” Vivian Green

June mantra: “I believe…”

Passionate Pisces is the most sensitive of all the signs. You wonderful water signs are true to your mantra, “I believe…,” because you are going to believe what you want to, despite what may actually be going on. Nowhere-near-neutral Neptune is the planet that rules my Passionate Pisces. Neptune owns illusions: He loves to express himself in art, music, and storytelling. Therefore, you, Passionate Pisces, are very creative in every possible way. Passionate Pisces is the last sign on the Zodiac wheel, so you rule the twelfth house of illusions, mysticism, and psychic qualities. But your eighth house is open for business for the month of June—new business or romantic partners, loans, joint resources, winning money, or receiving big inheritances are the main topics of discussion for you, Passionate Pisces. The universe has some tantalizing treats for you in June!

Despite brief challenges at the beginning of the month, that period will also be lucrative for you. Don’t neglect those energies, because they don’t come around often, and the ending retrograde of Jupiter will make it all immensely incredible. Passionate Pisces, hold on to your emotions on June 9, especially if you’re actualizing the desires you fostered in love or business previously in June. Passionate Pisces, you like to write or speak your creative efforts, which will be especially rewarding on June 13.

In love, finances, or work, Passionate Pisces will make lots of personal progress in June, and that’s the rare thing that you should definitely believe in! Be well, my friends.

Ambitious Aries

June theme song: “Oh No,” Marina and the Diamonds

June mantra: “I am…”

Ambitious Aries, you are the embodiment of electricity—you’re ruled by Mars, the power planet. In my opinion, this is why you rule the first house on the Zodiac wheel: You’ve got the ability to jumpstart just about anything you want! Your passion, energy, and drive, or, as the Chinese put it, your chi, all come from that Martian energy, which coincides with the hot sun of the commencing summer. Aries may represent the spring, but that doesn’t mean your chi has to cool down now that it’s ended.

Please focus on sparking all of your flames toward the beginning of the month. The mantra for Aries is “I am…,” so think I am going to do it, no matter how unattainable “it” seems ,because Venus is there to help you. The full moon on June 9 will mark a reality check—stay stable and ride its flow. Be aware of heightened emotions on and after June 21, when the summer solstice rolls in and the new moon might open up family issues that need patience and healing.

Here’s a bonus mantra and theme song for my Ambitious Aries this June: Burn, baby, burn—disco inferno!

Tenacious Taurus

June theme song: “Comfort You,” Van Morrison

June mantra: “I have…”

The summer solstice is usually the biggest highlight of June for all of the signs, including my steady, practical, and solid Taureans. Although it’s good for everyone, you can work with it in your own manner, as you typically do. I know security is paramount to you, and you will use your mantra, “I have…,” to bring in the resources that you need to make life comfortable. I labeled you “Tenacious Taurus” because you won’t stop until you get what you need—and want—and you make sure your loved ones have the same. Lucky for you, you are ruled by Venus: the planet of love, money, and beauty.

Focus on your health in every way, my Tenacious Taurus, even if you have to set up a lifestyle change to incorporate better health. This will help you in the beginning of the month, a great time to launch new projects. Anything that’s started at this time will sustain you throughout June—as for me, personally, I would get everything in by the summer solstice if you can. Don’t push it too late! Use June 18 as an excellent day of action, and don’t doubt yourself about anything.

The Full Moon in Sagittarius on June 9 will amp up your emotions: Sagittarian energies can be all over the place. Every sign, including you, will also experience high emotions around the entrance of the summer solstice on the 21st. Please understand that I say “high emotions” neutrally, because that could be over-the-moon elation or it could be a “I need a glass of red wine to forget about this day and jump into my own zone” kind of feeling. Whatever it is, you’ll figure it out, then digress: Buckle up and ride it out! June will be a tenaciously comforting month for you.

Shamir is Shamir and remains Shamir through and through, no matter what the universe puts him through. You may know the singularly named artist (think—Madonna or Cher) from his 2015 debut hit record Rachet, beloved by NPR listeners and club kids alike. After quickly rising to underground fame with his Northtown EP in 2014, the DIY pop star made a sonic splash with Rachet’s lead single “On The Regular,” a poppy banger that had extensive commercial usage. But how to follow all that up? Shamir, who came from the dusty dunes of Las Vegas, to Brooklyn’s Silent Barn, to the Philly indie scene (and all over the world in between), wanted to go back to what had inspired him from the beginning. Outsider music, country & punk. Raw and vulnerable tunes, stripped down to their emotional core. 2017’s Revelations explored a new avenue of guitar driven hooky indie rock and was widely critically praised in the US and overseas.

Shamir’s most recent releases, the brilliant Room 7” on Father/Daughter, and his self-released limited edition album, Resolution, are pinnacles in the catalog of the increasingly fascinating artist’s career. Room and its b-side Caballero celebrate Shamir’s love of country music, while Resolution is a deeply introspective look into the fabric of society and the artists’ own mind.  With these two releases he has refined his craft exponentially and done so in less than six months from the release of Revelations.
