Shamir Bailey is an artist from North Las Vegas. His pop music debut, Ratchet, came out in 2015 on XL Recordings. After a year of headline and festival dates around the world, he’s settled in Philadelphia, where he’s begun working on a follow-up.
Shamir and Porches’ Aaron Maine sat down backstage at Pitchfork Music Festival to talk Taylor Swift, songwriting, Taylor Swift again, and how both started with guitars but are now known for their electronic chops.
We recorded even more podcasts backstage at Pitchfork Music Fest, including Julia Holter and Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, BJ the Chicago Kid and Mick Jenkins, Spencer Tweedy and Whitney, plus last week’s episode with Brian Wilson and Carly Rae Jepsen and Kamasi Washington and Thundercat.
