Shamir-oscopes: July 2017

Our resident astrologer reveals your cosmic theme song, mantra, and fortune for the month.

Courageous Capricorn

July theme song: “Humble,” Kendrick Lamar

July mantra: “Be humble.”

Courageous Capricorn’s month is full of fiery flames, as if being in July ain’t hot enough. The cooling water sign of Cancer is not enough to sizzle you down, so you have to stay calm on your own if you want to make it through the month without a full showdown with some show-out!!!!!! You got too much testosterone bleeding through your chart from rageful Mars and the burning sun—if you’re part of a couple, please be careful. Flip the script and use all of that outwardly passion in an alchemical type of way for some hot, wild sex! That will relax everything.

You got Venus loving up on Jupiter to produce some achievements and luck in your career house, but I’m not gonna lie to you: it will come with some stress and agitation. Nothing comes for free, it’s just the price that you have to pay for fame or success. Vigilant Venus is nice in your career house, but she is being naughty in your health house. She picked a fight with big papa Saturn and noisy Neptune to cause you ailments, minor or not. But if you focus on being humble instead of flipping out, you’ll be more able to take care of yourself.

Abstract Aquarius

July theme song: “Keep it Movin’ (feat. Big Meech),” Keke Palmer

July mantra: “Keep it pushin.”

Forget about what you hear and focus on what you know, my abstract Aquarius. You’ll be hearing a lot of talk that may not be favorable to you, and what you are trying to do this month is just keep it pushin’. The planet Mercury got everybody talking, but stay tuned to see who will really back up their words this month.

Couples, if your other half ain’t talking about nothing that’s going to benefit you and the growth of y’all relationship. then push on. I’m not saying to leave them, but you might have to park it to get your head straight.

Your ass is going to be working hard this month, abstract Aquarius. You got that fire from the sun and that madness from Mars in your work house, so you already know how it’s about to go down. Oh, believe me, it’s a good thing—you will have opulent opportunities for associations and collaborations that will bring in more income on a month-to-month basis. Allow attentive, abiding eyes on all your money contracts this month, even if you have to hire an attorney to do it for you. You will get a little tired, but the outcome of what you are about to accomplish will keep you pushin’. I bet you will plan a vacation after all of this!!!

Abstract Aquarius, do a little bit of preventative maintenance and get a checkup this month, especially if you have not been to a doctor in a while. Have a magical month, my awesome ones.

Passionate Pisces

July theme song: “Work From Home,” U.S. Girls

July mantra: “Balance.”

The month of July is going to be a balancing act for you, my peaceful, passionate Pisces. Caring Cancer is putting herself in your watery mix with ignition from solider sun and “move out the way” Mars heating that water up.

It will be hard to balance between home and work this month, given all of the energy from the aforementioned planets. You might even decide to create a work-from-home job because of the pressures of trying to make sure home is well while you are earning money. Balance, child.

Passionate Pisces, your fifth house of creativity is the talk of the town, baby. You’ll have an immaculate amount of good luck with your creative endeavors, even if you decide to switch professions to support this; you will be the winner. This extends to all kinds of creativity, like sports, writing, and unusual investing—whatever you can think of. Don’t limit yourself.

Couples might be a little lustful this month—get some humping time in. The only other health advice that I have for you, passionate Pisces, is to balance some time for R and R. Being relaxed and happy boosts the immune systems to allow healing and restoration to take place. I just wrote you a prescription for some free medicine; you’re welcome (lol)! Enjoy the month of July’s serious sweetness.

Shamir is Shamir and remains Shamir through and through, no matter what the universe puts him through. You may know the singularly named artist (think—Madonna or Cher) from his 2015 debut hit record Rachet, beloved by NPR listeners and club kids alike. After quickly rising to underground fame with his Northtown EP in 2014, the DIY pop star made a sonic splash with Rachet’s lead single “On The Regular,” a poppy banger that had extensive commercial usage. But how to follow all that up? Shamir, who came from the dusty dunes of Las Vegas, to Brooklyn’s Silent Barn, to the Philly indie scene (and all over the world in between), wanted to go back to what had inspired him from the beginning. Outsider music, country & punk. Raw and vulnerable tunes, stripped down to their emotional core. 2017’s Revelations explored a new avenue of guitar driven hooky indie rock and was widely critically praised in the US and overseas.

Shamir’s most recent releases, the brilliant Room 7” on Father/Daughter, and his self-released limited edition album, Resolution, are pinnacles in the catalog of the increasingly fascinating artist’s career. Room and its b-side Caballero celebrate Shamir’s love of country music, while Resolution is a deeply introspective look into the fabric of society and the artists’ own mind.  With these two releases he has refined his craft exponentially and done so in less than six months from the release of Revelations.
