Luke Davies

Luke Davies is an award-winning poet, novelist, essayist and screenwriter. Born in Australia and based in Los Angeles, he wrote the screenplay for Lion, starring Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara, and directed by Garth Davis. His screenplay for Life, about the friendship between James Dean and Life magazine photographer Dennis Stock, was directed by Anton Corbijn, and starred Robert Pattinson, Dane DeHaan, Joel Edgerton and Sir Ben Kingsley. His novels include the cult bestseller Candy, Isabelle the Navigator and God of Speed. Candy was made into a 2006 film from Davies’ screenplays, directed by Neil Armfield and starring Heath Ledger, Abbie Cornish and Geoffrey Rush. Davies has published five volumes of poetry, including Interferon Psalms which won the inaugural Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry, Australia’s largest and most prestigious literary prize.
