Talkhouse Weekend Playlist: Pictureplane’s Halloween Weekend

The artist shares some “gothic melodies,” a “head-fucking and nasty neo-witch house banger,” and much more.

Pictureplane is a Brooklyn-based musician, visual artist, fashion designer, and generally eerie figure. (This past summer, I saw his dungeon synth side project KLOKHET play a spooky church in Queens.) His latest record, Sex Distortion, is out today via Music Website, so it felt right for him to share a few tracks with us to help soundtrack this Halloween weekend. Play it while you get dressed up, and don’t forget to add Sex Distortion to the queue.
— Annie Fell, Editor-in-chief, Talkhouse Music

MATIAJKA — “Floon Shmocks”
Gorgeous moody synth pop music from Kuwait. This entire album is amazing.

Augustus Muller — Cellulosed Bodies
One of the members of Boy Harsher soundtracking an arthouse porn movie. Incredible stuff.

Vestron Vulture — “ICH LIEBE TECHNO”
Perfect lo-fi gothic melodies from a master doing it. Out of Mexico. Love this band.

Phantom Spire — “My Journey to the Phantom”
Blasted and crusted distorted dungeon synth with black metal vocals. Fantastic and simple melodies.

Pictureplane — “Weeping Sky”
Off my latest album, Sex Distortion. Trance goth music.

Badass Wolf Shirt — “Medium”
Head-fucking and nasty neo-witch-house banger. This producer is so fire.

T.G.T.B. — “Reminisce”
I don’t know much about this project except it is put out by the fantastic label, Detriti records. They have the best taste with the stuff they release.

blood club — “gastado”
Undeniably catchy and perfect gothic synth pop. All in español. From Chicago. I would love to play some shows with these guys.

Cage — “Weather People”
Suspiria sampling indie rap from the early 2000s. I’ve been obsessed with this beat and song since I was a teenager. Seemed fitting for a dark themed Halloween playlist. Cage is one of the most talented and underrated rappers ever.
