Born and raised in Wales, Gareth Evans is a writer-director currently based in Jakarta, Indonesia. He made his debut in 2009 with Merantau, and broke through internationally with the acclaimed martial arts thrillers The Raid: Redemption (2011) and The Raid 2 (2014), both of which were released by Sony Pictures Classics.
